Lea Nicholas has worked in a training capacity for many years. Possessing an innate ability to connect with people, she quickly assess a situation and concisely articulates a complicated issue.
Always passionate regarding human rights, Lea fervently asserts those beliefs on behalf of those unable or unwilling to do so. Her gifts of well-presented arguments, backed with research, result in many a "win" for the underdog. Always willing to stand up for herself and others, she believes that attitude is the key to solving many of life's problems.
If one is willing to listen, to truly hear and perhaps "walk a mile in someone else's shoes" one can be a more accepting, compassionate person. Lea strongly believes all of us, no matter what our circumstances, have the right and the responsibility to respect and inclusion.
It is our intention to transform attitudes and serve our community through advocating, listening, sharing, coaching, and
teaching. We do this with integrity, honesty, and passion. Our vision is the creation of a compassionate and inclusive society.
We talk from the heart and from real life.
Is it ok to say "See you later" to a blind person? For the answer to this question and more . . . click SMAC Personalities!
Lea Nicholas facilitates the SMAC Experience. As we can see in the photo, in role-playing, she uses humor and personal
insight to draw out learning.
Lea's incredible enthusiasm and high energy brings fun and excitement to the S.M.A.C. Experience.
Attitudinal shifts occur effortlessly in the audience. Participants start seeing people with abilities, rather than
challenges.
Since early 2007, the S.M.A.C Experience has been transforming attitudes. People from all across Nova Scotia are
discovering the S.M.A.C. Advantage!
"Being SMAC "ed" was definitely an experience that will not be soon forgotten. [The]
presentation compels a person to think outside the box, to look around with eyes wide open
instead of half shut. The information is provided in a light atmosphere and there are thought
provoking exercises, designed to make a person think about walking in another's shoes . . . The SMAC Experience makes us think, makes us
comprehend and makes us appreciate all of our abilities, rather than focusing on the "dis."
We really enjoyed it!"
